Recent News WASHINGTON, D.C. –July 12,
2000 U.S. Senator Jim Bunning announced today that the City of Edmonton
will receive a federal loan to provide better fire protection services
for the city. The city will receive a low-interest loan from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture (USDA), in the amount of $370,000, to be repaid over 15
years at a rate of 5.125%. The funds will be used to purchase a Quint Fire
Truck to provide better fire protection service to the citizens of Edmonton.
Oakland, Calif., December 7, 1999 - The Kingsford Manufacturing Company (KMC), a subsidiary of The Clorox Company (NYSE, PE: CLX), today announced the acquisition from Royal Oak Enterprises of the Summer Shade charcoal production facility in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. The facility joins five other North American facilities that produce Kingsford and Match Light charcoal briquets, the leadingnational brands for barbecue briquets. The 100-acre Summer Shade site, located near the town of Glasgow, KY, was constructed in 1995 and has 21 employees, who will become employees of KMC.
